Hologram 30

New and exciting music on the horizon. We present Hologram 30, a fresh synth warrior ready to take our universe by storm. He presented us 3 tracks for you to enjoy, one of them is a heavy-synth-loaded remix of 80s Stallone's (Rocky)IV tune (we posted the original a few posts ago, check!).

Download 80s Stallone - IV (Hologram 30 Remix)

Up next are 2 original tracks of Hologram 30. First up is the wonderfull "She", which to me, resembles the inner beauty of one, blooming in spring and gently bringing an ocean breeze of melody and harmony. The tune might be a bit short and wants you to take it to the next level but herefor we have another great tune from Mr. Hologram, which goes back heavy on the synths. Taking you on a drive through the night, taking red lights and speeding in the wrong lane!

The Girlfriend

Playmaker is highly excited to bring forward the awesome Girlfriend Records/Collective. Runned by Eric Sferro and friends, they are setting the pace of some awesome, new and relevant productions, bringing some of sweetest tunes and mixes in our universe.

We can't discribe ringleader Sferro's music any better then in his own story of how he got involved in all of this. So, what has happened to Sferro that made him so totally awesome? It seems that... "When Sferro hacked the mainframe of his ex-employer to prove his work was stolen by another executive, he finds himself on a much bigger adventure. Beamed inside a power-hungry master control program, he joins computer gladiators on a deadly game grid, complete with high-velocity "light cycles" and Tron, a specialized security program. Together they fight the ultimate battle with the MCP to decide the fate of both the electronic world and the real world!" Bend that to some incredible music and you got yourself the perfect Sferro soundtrack, and we got 3 tracks for you to enjoy. One of them exclusive for Playmaker!

Download 3 tracks from Sferro!
Sferro - Sexy Talents
Sferro - Réplique
Sferro - Technicolor *exclusive*

...And continuing the Sferro story, we also want to shine the light on one of his latest collaboration named Heather. Voice and words come from one named Elizabeth Trott (gfr's own photographer). Exploring lower tempos and softer melodies, Eric says this allows him to build more freedom in his productions. Their first single is totally awesome. It's a thought-based dream rant set to music sounding like your girlfriend is reading her diary to you, taking your hand and saying it's going to be alright. No music to share this time but do check out their myspace and listen to their tune and show them your support by sending a friendly request.

Pelifics from Norway bring dreamy synth pop. This track currently singed to Girlfriend records has made it before on various blogs like discodust and valerie and has been featured on MOTU2 aswell. By now this tune has become a classic and when listening back to this in a couple of years you will say to yourself. Yes that's that Pelifics song that made them fundamental in the scene. Pelifics is a hardworking musician/graphic designer with alot of talent and we hope to hear much more from him in the near future. Please enjoy!

Download Pelifics - Guess what Paula, You're sued.

And we're staying in Scandinavia, it's seems like our Girlfriend likes it there. Sweden's own The Neon Workout (who's been on Playmaker before) is teasing us with his teaser-videos of sexy 80's chicks pumping iron and working out under the neon stars. This time, Girlfriend records has offered the download of Workout's latest effort Running In The Night, a track that has a feature by a mysterious act named HR from Norway. So here we present you Running In The Night, a nice a relaxing erotic elector track, as hot as candlewax!

Download The Neon Workout ft. HR - Running in the night

And if this post still leaves you hungry then look on the Girlfriend Records blog and find tons more mixes, remixes, original tracks, videos, ect...

Red & Blue are standing on the edge of the world

Eject yourselves! Playmaker's favourites Joystixx are back and in their universe new things are near boiling point. While this might just be a small sample of the promising things to come, you gotta check out their latest effort "Edge Of The World". This track focuses more on Manek's vocals instead of the usual vocals by Nuke 3D but it's extremely catchy and they're bringing forward a nice development in their sound, leading up to their first release...

Click here to listen to 'Edge of the World' http://www.zshare.net/audio/58869206f9067d34/

Joystixx are also on the MOTU2 compilation and have been interviewed by Playmaker when we first got to know them. Click here to read back their interview and find more songs and words by them. They are definitely on our wishlist for next the Playmaker party in Sydney. So be prepared for lots of new stuff from them, somewhere in the near future!

Mr.Hayday

Wow! is this the jazziest electronic funk we've ever witnessed?!?

Not only is Mr. Hayday amazing live, his debut EP is totally killer in the original, mind blowing sense of it all. We got to know the wonders of Mr.Hayday on our trip in New Zealand, the home turf of Hayday, when we attended the Band-Camp A Low Hum festival in Wellington. Althou the bill was pretty much rock band related and handful of electronic musicians got invited aswell, among them, Mr.Hayday from Auckland, NZ.

Drifting somewhere between chiptune and electro pop, this totally happy music makes you wanna climb every mountain. Yeh that's right, shove this on your iPod and no valley will ever be too deep. Especially his tune 'Hamwave' totally stands out, and reaches for the ceiling in no time. With it's cartoonish character, Mr.Hayday is showing off great uniqueness and personality with music that sounds like it's timeless, yet contemporary.

Download Mr.Hayday's 'Hamwave' here: http://www.zshare.net/audio/58723871cca5fa9d/

Also check out the video made of the song 'Hamster Square Dance'.

Hamster Squaredance from ATZ119 | Laurent Antonczak on Vimeo.

The "Hamster Squaredance" music video is the result of an Auckland based French / German / New Zealand collaboration. It is an exercise in reflecting on today’s communities in relation to emerging technologies by creating a playful approach of story-telling: Helmut, the hamster, is chased by various protagonists…

BONUS: got a printer? like playing with hamsters? or just bored for the fuck of it?!? Cut-out one of these cute mr.hayday hamsters and show your support for Mr.Hayday!

Murder on the dancefloor

Currently on a European adventure, Melbourne's Murder One has delighted us with his tune 'Outrun'. A jamming electro tune bringing forward his style of dark drifting electro. 'Outrun' is sounding somewhere between Kavinsky and a MOTU artist, as this track gives you the good old, what we call, Lamborghini-feel. With alot of punch and energy this rocking vintage tune is bound to make your dj-set complete. Or even if you're just cleaning your room or walking down the street with your walkman on, this track might make things go just that little bit faster... Anyway, check him out for a dj-set if you're in Europe at the moment. He's doing some shows with Vaillante, AC Slater and many more. Find more info on his myspace!

Lex Chauve drops The Invader EP

Lex Chauve - The invader by Lex Chauve

Here it is ladies and gentlemen. Lex Chauve from Amsterdam has released his first EP of his song/anthem 'The Invader' with tons of remixes by artists such as Phonder, Low Mode, Kroenen, Deluce, Spectral, and a few more for you to discover! Oh and the EP is free for grabs! Nice work Lex.

The night we met Jonny Telafone

One night when Sickboy and BAADDD were planned to be playing at a squat party in Canberra, the party got stopped by the police and moved to someone's backyard. It must have been midnight, and so the party continued until neighbours (how Australian) had more than enough. Some of them trying to unplug the band but the party continued. Don't really remember is the police ever came back but I do remember BAADDD playing and an older lady that could be your mum ran in between the girls begging them to stop 'the noise'... BAADDD took a brief break, to introduce their newest member, the ultamite BAADDD-mum. So they continued a few more songs and finished their set short.

But were trying to cut a long story short. Sickboy did get to play but then inside! The walls and doors got slammed by matreses to make it all more soundproof and people got ready for a great imporvised house party! All the lights went out, and only a smoke machine and strobe light were being used to set the perfect atmosphere. People told eachother they thought they were at the biggest rave of all times, while in reality, they were at one of the smallest raves in the world. Yet the atmosphere definatly gave you that illusion. The celebration of freedom and liberty was held high and the party taking unseen hights!

And when Sickboy finished, and people got tired from dancing and jumping, BAADDD dropped some more dj-tunes,... it was still time for Jonny Telafone. And boy, did this music resemble a perfect ending. This was the soundtrack of when it's all over or when it's was all just begining. We all sat together, listened and enjoyed Jonny Telafone. Can't explain the heartwarming feeling he brought to the place. A unique, timid yet brilliant musician from Canberra that definatly left a great impression on Playmaker!

He's working on some new stuff, killer new tune on his myspace. Join the cult and download the first album 'Bottom of the Sea' by Jonny Telafone Seriously, it's better than fucking Joy Division!

Sakura Night

Ah! we're always excited when the name Sakura Night pops up. And now we're super excited because Video (interviewed in the first issue of our Playmaker fanzine) has given us a new tune and it's totally awesome. Enjoy! Here's Arcade Run, set to be released soon on a compilation hosted by Franklean.

The girl and the robot

Royksopp are back with a new album and did a fantastic collaboration with Robyn. Although this song is a little bit jaded - just a little bit really - it tells the story of a certain relationship, being in love with a robot. It's pretty much a call for attention from your lover, stating you won't be denied. And this song definitely won't be denied. What a stand out single this turned out to be. The highlight of their new album for sure. A most energetic collaboration between Norway's finest non-church burners that give a whole new dimension and feel to what a good pop song sounds like, on a perfect ballance between club track and song format. The production is super neat, and besides the lovely vocals from Robyn, the string section is heart-warming like a lovely campfire down in Norway's outskirts.

Theme to Nightwolf

Are you afraid of the dark? That's the question Nightwolf asks you when he invites you to listen to his music. Well, we're not exactly scared of Nightwolf, infact we love to see more of him! His tune might have a howling feeling and set off as being creepy, but surely enough, cute and soft melodies come out to haunt you aswell, giving us a vibe saying "OK this can be creepy but if you embrace me i will sing for you and make you feel alright" sort-of-thing...

Yeh. that's the feeling we get from this tune. It's new and exciting music from Australia's New South Wales territory. "Theme to Nightwolf" is small but great piece of music and sets us in the right mood. It feels great for an opener of a DJ set and definatly sounds like an opening theme, a theme of something that could be the beginning of something truely awesome.

We're already excited about new material of Nightwolf and you can be sure Playmaker will keep a close eye to this one. But for now, please enjoy Theme to Nightwolf!

Tally Isham on Mean Street

"Come on down, you're on Mean Street" sang a once heavily Jack-Daniels-fueled David Lee Roth, when he was fronting one of history's greatest hard rock bands Van Halen. Nowadays Diamond Dave seems to have cleaned up his act and probably spends his days cruisin down sunset avenue.

All this and more to introduce a new video and remix involving some great talents of the current scene.

First we enter Tally Isham, who has just remixed Futurecop!'s N.A.S.A. And yo, it all makes sense... Since Tally herself was once a N.A.S.A. employee that got struck by Lightning during research, died and came back as an internet entity, collecting knowledge for our enjoyment!

So, here is Futurecop! with N.A.S.A. in the Tally Isham Remix
Download: Futurecop-Nasa (TallyIshamRemix)
(mp3 hosted by redthread, awesome!)

Furthermore we have Mean Streets, a DJ / Filmmaker / Videographer / Video Editor in D.C. that is obsessed with the 80's. with great graphic skills and knowledge of classic imagery. He provided us some great material to enjoy on Tally Isham's version of this classic Futurecop! tune. Here's version 2.0 for ya!

Kenobii

Kenobii is another great project runned by Christopher Robert hailing from New Jersey in the U.S. This one takes us way out there, deep into the ocean and forrest, to become one with nature. Very vegan, intriging and friendly sounds, perfect to start the day. At one time you hear kids on the playground and at other times you hear dolphins and whales, trying to make us aware that everything, eventually, will be OK. It's the sort of down tempo stuff we all need in these times of this electro overload. Now working on a release, kenobii has dropped a few tracks on his myspace, alongside some nice videoclips, which we, gladly show to you, playmakers!
